Minnesota Winners
The first jackpot ever to be won in the revamped game was claimed in Minnesota on March 14th 2018. Debbie Kujava from the town of Badger bought the winning ticket, worth $22 million, from Holiday Stationstores in Roseau. When she found out she was a millionaire she immediately told her brother Dennis, as they had always had an agreement that ‘if one wins, we both win’. They decided to take the cash option of more than $13 million.
Another jackpot win followed on July 10th 2019. Jeffery Love, from Elk River, purchased the $21.6 million ticket from Holiday Stationstore #395, located at 14075 Ramsey Blvd. in Ramsey, but left it in the glove box of his car for a few days before remembering to check how he had fared. When he did scan the numbers on his phone and discovered he had won, he phoned work to say he would be ‘a little late’, before calling back shortly afterwards to say he ‘wouldn’t be in at all today’.
